Shuhei Hatano was born in 1980 in Tottori and currently lives in Tokyo. He is a graduate of the Moving Images and Performing Arts Department at Tama Art University. His major films include Trail (2012), Origin of Shadows (2017, Tokyo Documentary Film Festival 2018 Short Film Competition Grand Prize), I Remember (2021, Festival Film Dokumenter Yogyakarta 2022 Best International Feature-Length Documentary) and Radiance (2023, Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival 2023 Asian Competition).
